Demonstration of a unique prototype of a propeller electric drive based on a valve-inductor electric motor

On April 14, 2022, FSUE Krylovsky State Scientific Center demonstrated a unique prototype of a propeller electric drive based on a valve-inductor electric motor IGED-15000-10-107 OM5.

This electric motor was manufactured by Electrotyazhmash-Drive LLC in 2021. In the process of production and factory tests, an inspection was carried out by the Russian Maritime Register of Shipping (RM RS), the results of which confirmed the compliance of the electric motor with the declared characteristics, as well as the requirements of the RM RS.

An electric drive based on a valve-inductor electric motor has a number of advantages in relation to electric drives based on an asynchronous electric motor: simplicity of design, increased fault tolerance, reliability and maintainability, constant torque at low speeds.
